High profile Vauxhall Towers given the green light - Forsters advises

Forsters planning team has assisted landowners, Wendover Investments Limited, in obtaining planning permission for two landmark tall towers in the heart of Vauxhall.

Eric Pickles today signed off on a report complimenting the “elegant… dynamic” Michael Squire-designed towers. The 720,000sq ft development will provide 291 residential units, offices, and a hotel adjacent to Vauxhall tube and rail station.

The scheme was controversially ignored by Lambeth Council in 2011, culminating in a two week planning inquiry before a Secretary of State appointed Inspector in March 2012.

The two towers are 140m and 115m in height, and are the pioneer towers in the newly designated Opportunity Area of Vauxhall, Nine Elms and Battersea – set to become one of the biggest development areas in the UK over the next 15 years.

Forsters planning team was led by Oliver Wright, assisted by Matthew Nixon.

Montagu Evans acted as planning consultants and agents.
