Jo Edwards discusses the case of Siobhan McLaughlin and its importance for cohabiting couples on BBC Radio 4’s Money Box

Jo Edwards, Head of Family, joined host Paul Lewis on BBC Radio 4’s Money Box to discuss the upcoming Supreme Court case of Siobhan McLaughlin, who is challenging the rules that refuse her and her four children bereavement benefits because she was not married to her late partner.

Jo enters the discussion at 11m 35s, highlighting the case as yet another example of discrimination against unmarried couples under English law, and expressing the hope that the Supreme Court will find that existing policy on bereavement benefits discriminates against cohabiting couples and their children.
