Partner, Private Client

Alfred is a Partner in the Private Client team.

He advises ultra/high net worth individuals, fiduciaries and family offices on a diverse range of private wealth matters, often where there are international and/or multigenerational complexities. His broad practice includes advising on:

personal taxation and tax planning for: (i) UK Resident Non-Domiciliaries; (ii) (formerly) UK Domiciliaries resident overseas; and (iii) Non-UK Domiciliaries with family members and/or investments in the UK;
Family Governance and Next Gen. planning for Business Families;
the administration, (re)structuring and taxation of domestic and offshore trusts;
establishing of dynastic private wealth structures such as Family Offices and Private Trust Companies;
global estate planning strategy and co-ordination including Wills and probate; and
UK immigration requirements and strategy relevant to private clients. He has a particular expertise advising individuals currently with UK Tier 1 (Investor) Visa and transnational couples where one partner is a British citizen or settled in the UK.

Alfred has family roots in Asia and speaks conversational Cantonese. He has a deep understanding of Asian cultures and how these interact with Western ideologies, often vital when addressing highly sensitive and emotive issues such as succession, wealth preservation and family business transitions. As a member of Forsters’ Asia Private Client team, he frequently travels to Singapore, Hong Kong and other parts of the region to advise clients on these issues.

He is ranked in The Legal 500 2024 edition as a Rising Star. He was named as one of ePrivateclient’s Top 35 under 35 in 2020.

Alfred is also a committee member for STEP’s Business Families Global Special Interest Group.
