Associate, Contentious Trusts and Estates

Maddie is an associate in the Contentious Trusts and Estates team.

She acts for a wide range of UK and international clients including high net worth individuals, trustees and professionals. She has advised on a range of trust and estate claims, including rectification and rescission applications, trustee removal, issues relating to capacity and charity law. Maddie has experience acting in the English Courts and in offshore jurisdictions, including the BVI, Guernsey, The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.

Maddie joined Forsters in August 2024 from Macfarlanes LLP where she trained and qualified as a solicitor.

• Applications for the removal and replacement of trustees
• Applications for the blessing of a trustee decision
• Advising both settlors and beneficiaries in applications to set aside trusts on the grounds of equitable mistake
• Applications in relation to disclosure of trust documents
• Disputes between beneficiaries and executors/court appointed administrators relating to the administration of estates

Capacity:

• Applications in the Court of Protection concerning the validity of various powers of attorney
• Applications to the Court of Protection for the appointment of health and welfare and property and affairs deputies

Charity:

• Cy-prés applications in circumstances where the original purpose of a charitable trust can no longer be carried out.
